Today, on August 5, fifty-two years ago, one of the most important Hollywood legends passed away – her name was Marilyn Monroe. But more than half a century later generations of people still continue to admire the talent as well as the attractiveness of the famous actress. We made up our mind to find out what beauty secrets ensured Marilyn Monroe’s fame and memory.
1. Platinum Blonde
They say that to become a blondie is a decision, which determined Marilyn’s future career in cinematography. Monroe was beautiful with her rebellious curly hair of a chocolate tint – before her appearance in Hollywood – but still sort of unremarkable. It was her decision to become a platinum blonde that made her the sex-bomb we all know and love. Pearl Porterfield, a hairdresser, peroxided her hair as it was done before, and after that Marilyn never had even a thought of getting back to her natural hair colour. Why? Being blonde, Marilyn was truly staggering.
2. Radiant Skin
Marilyn had a wonderful secret of radiant skin – the matter was that the actress completely refused to have her slight down removed from her cheeks and cheek-bones. She claimed that in the light of lamps in studio it gives her face a light, soft glow. Moreover, moisturizing creams (Erno Laszlo Active pHelityl Cream or Nivea) helped her to look her skin its best.
3. Red Lips
Haven’t you found your own perfect shade of red lipstick? Try the tint the closest to the one that Marilyn used to wear. Red lips always were the icing on the cake of this platinum blonde’s looks. Thanks to her, for fair-haired girls it has become a classic choice to complete their make up with a scarlet lipstick. You should have a satin gloss on your lips as Marilyn’s did, for you to look really gorgeous.
4. Long Eyelashes
“We – the women, we have only two weapons … Mascara and tears, but we cannot use both at the same time.” Do you remember these Monroe’s words? Languishing “velvet” look under Marilyn’s long and fluffy eyelashes possessed a kind of magic. She used not only a mascara for emphasising her lashes but also used false ones. Her favourite ones were by Glorene of Hollywood.
5. Cat Look
It was not only the lashes, which helped her to create the “cat look” effect. Marilyna used to draw lines with a pencil – winged eye liners with a “tail”, a thin line at ciliary margin. To do so she used not only black color, which is usually combined with red lipstick, but also a brown one – for “more genteel” eye make-up.
6. Smile
Among the large number of Marilyn’s beautiful features there was also a dazzling smile that can be called a million dollar smile. The celebrity used to say: “Keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about”. And these words are really hard to argue about. By the way, to keep her smile dazzling Marilyn, while brushing her teeth, used baking soda. This simple trick lead to the teeth whitening boom: people saw Marilyn’s disarming smile on TV and dreamt about having the same one.
“Your own” aroma. An inevitable part of Marilyn’s look was perfume. One of the most famous actress’s quotations shows us that Monroe wore perfume at ALL TIMES. “What do I wear in bed? Why, Chanel No. 5, of course.” This legendary composition by the French fashion house fully suited not less legendary Marilyn. She was sure that “there are no women who do not like perfume, there are women who have not found their scent”.
7. Awareness of Her Own Feminity
Feminity was given to Marilyn naturally, she appreciated it and tried to emphasize it in any way. “I’m very definitely a woman and I enjoy it – she said –I think that sexuality is only attractive when it’s natural and spontaneous” This belief helped her to live in a man’s world.
8. Curves
Marilyn has never been close to the classical model measurements: she weighed at different times from 53 up to 66 kilos, and her figure was always feminine – full breasts and hips. The actress never tried to become thin, thinness would definitely deprive her of her sexuality – she was sure that: “To all the girls that think you’re fat because you’re not a size zero, you’re the beautiful one, its society who’s ugly”.
9. The Ability to Stress the Advantages of Her Figure
“The body is meant to be seen, not all covered up.” – said Marilyn. The actress didn’t follow these words literary, but the celebrity always emphasized the beauty of her figure with her exquisite looks. Tight dresses with low neck lines allowed her to present her in all her beauty and to drive her followers crazy.
10. Protein Breakfast
The actress never forget about the importance of having breakfast, which, as it is known, should be substantial. In the morning Marilyn didn’t eat something special: she warmed up some milk and add two raw eggs into it and mixed everything up with a spoon. This protein breakfast helped her to stay fit.
11. Doing a Little Bit of Exercise
Marilyn did different activities not to lose weigh (as we have already found out, she was proud of her curves), but for keeping her body fit. For this purpose she used to choose jogging, yoga and sometimes even riding a horse. But she never went in for exhaustible training – thinness was of no use to her.
12. No Sunbathing at All
In 60s, when Marilyn was on top of her career, sunbathing was in fashion but the celebrity did not followed the increasingly popular trend. Her skin was always of a tender milk tint – an aristocratic pall became her. “I’m personally opposed to a deep tan because I like to feel blond all over” – said Monroe. Moreover she was sure, that sun aged skin faster than time.
High “I don’t know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot!” – all girls know this Marilyn Monroe’s saying. Her tempting dress most often she combined with stilet to high heeled shoes, so she was watched leaving for sure.
13. “NO” to Narrow-Mindedness
“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” Although to many people Marilyn seems perfect, we can’t help but agree with her words: what many people consider to be one man’s drawback, in real life makes him unique, unlike the others. This is the beauty given to people by nature.
